Penguin character model. Did a lot of research on penguins to get acquainted with their anatomy. The feathers were a lot of fun to hand paint, and involved using color layers overlaid each other, with their details based in layer masks for added detail visibility. I worked hard to create the different areas of materials (scuted feet, sharp hardened beak, fluffy down vs. spear-like feathers on back) seem separate.

Hand painted the feathers to get an accurate but vibrant depiction of penguin feathers.

This gun was generated from concept for the Dino Hunter game. All of texture was hand painted, with the exception of a layer that used Transfer Maps in Maya to add additional accuracy to the concept and a boost in contrast.
